Welcome to the 2026 Peace Seedlings List of seed offerings. Thank you for your interest in organic, unique, small batch, open-pollinated seeds. We would like to take some time to share some of our story. We started in 2008 with Peace Seedlings offering seeds, but the roots go much deeper. We both were born into families who cherished the natural world. Dylana grew up in a household that was accustomed to seed batches drying by the wood stove and getting to eat things like colored sweet corn, purple snap peas and purple tofu made from black soybeans. My passion for seeds came from a different source. My parents were avid mountaineers, so I was lucky enough to see some of the most pristine ecosystems in the west coast as well as the amazing views from some of the highest mountains in the area. The parallels between climbing mountains and seed saving/ plant breeding always impresses me. Both take commitment, perseverance, forethought, and hard work.
Many people ask if we sell seedlings, and we tell them, “we are the seedlings”. Our name pays homage to the incredible legacy that Dylana’s parents had started with “Peace Seeds” one of the original, organic seed companies and also one of the most prodigious plant breeders in the organic movement. Peace Seeds was also one of the first seed companies to put all of their new breeding in the Public Domain (also called open source seeds now). We still continue this ethical foundation that the diversity of genetics held within the biosphere should not be owned by corporations or anyone, it is a gift to cherish by all. This diversity is also something that evolves and changes with humanity and is our duty to preserve and share, as well as an honor to work towards making the plants that nourish us more nutritious, more adapted, and more beautiful. This collaboration with the plants around us is of mutual benefit and further proof that the diversity of the living world is more embodied in cooperation and collaboration than competition.
We are very passionate about how we garden and strive to create high quality seeds without excess waste. Weed management takes a lot of energy, and we like doing most of it the old school style of using a hoe and a small tiller for cultivating. All the seeds that we offer are seeds that we have grown and cleaned ourselves, so nothing is bought and re-sold. We believe this gives us an intimate connection to every pack of seeds that we package up. It also ensures that we know the quality of the seeds that we send out and always make sure it is as good as possible.
We have been farming the same 3 acre piece of land that Alan and Linda Kapuler started leasing in the early 90’s that the Brown family has graciously shared. Now with the next generation growing up (Calypsa is 3 1/2, and Azara is already 1!) securing this land is even more important. With the support and generosity of our customers and supporters, we are still working to be able to own this piece of organically managed land to preserve the biodiversity that has been planted in the last 3 decades.

We grow everything organikally, the K is for know your farmer and know your source. All seeds are not chemically treated, non GMO, no use of any pesticides or herbicides or single use ground plastic and grown using minimal organic fertilizer. All varieties are bred and selected by us, open-pollinated and public domain, some very new, and others very old, trusted selected heirlooms. Squash and zucchini are hand pollinated to insure true cultivars. In our continuing work of preserving heirlooms at the same time as breeding new varieties, occasional crossing happens (less then 1%), so occasional rogue plants can happen in a seed batch. We strive to preserve the lines we offer but evolution is always in process. Thanks for gardening and being part of this process.
Throughout the seedlist you will see “breeding by Peace Seedlings” which means Dylana Kapuler and Mario DiBenedetto are the original breeders. Varieties noted as “breeding by Peace Seeds” were developed by Alan and Linda Kapuler. All the seeds we offer in this catalog are grown, selected, cleaned and packed by us; Dylana Kapuler and Mario DiBenedetto; Peace Seedlings.

Productive South American food plant, called “the apple of the Andes”. A floral sweet crunchy root, harvested Oct-Dec, tubers get sweeter after being cured. High in inulins that feed beneficial soil and gut microbes. We store in a shady, humid greenhouse for “curing” and the tubers become sweeter after a couple weeks as some of the inulin breaks down into simple sugars. When juiced and concentrated it makes amazing syrup.

Ulluco Ullucus tuberosus
Plants like part shade and have beautiful succulent leaves and stems that cascade down by the end of summer into fall when they send out long stolons. Beautiful tubers are harvested late November/December, they range from neon yellow to red and speckles, and turn green with light exposure. One of the delicacy tubers of the Andes, starchy and sweet. All our Ulluco originally came from Ben Kamm of Sacred Succulents.

Cornucopia Bush Sweet Zea mays 50 seeds / 6.00
Many years in the making. Bush Sweet corn, each seed is best planted 2 to 3 ft apart and the plants grow multitillers and thus many more cobs per plant. Also great for intercropping with Oca, potatoes or summer planted greens:lettuce, arugula… Plants produce burgundy to carnelian colored seeds with 3 to 5 tillers and 6 to 12 cobs per plant; depending on fertility.
